In V3 you can Open and Close your event from the status icon beside the name of the event that you are currently in. The dot in the dropdown shows you if your event is Not Yet Open, Open, or Closed. You can click the indicator to switch the event's status. You can change this in the Event Dashboard, but not from the home page or event drop-down menu. This isn't required but was in V3.
